Getting to know me
This time next week I will be going to my first blogging conference, Blog On MSI. I’m nervous but excited, and really looking forward to meeting lots of the lovely people I’ve seen around the community.
I’ve decided to do the Blog On Ice breaker linky which zoe from mama geek has started just to introduce myself a bit more.
1. Share a recent photo of you (or a doodle!)
2. Describe yourself in five words or less
3. How long have you been blogging, and why did you start?
I’ve been blogging for just a few months, I started after the death of my parents and miscarriage last year . I started a YouTube channel first, back in Feb and just progressed to blogging.
4. What are you hoping to get out of Blog On?
Although I’m really nervous about going, Im hoping this will boost my confidence, I won’t know anyone but I’m hoping by the end I will be able to put some names to faces, also looking for inspiration and lots of info from the sessions.
5. Name a few of your favourite blogs.
Starting out on YouTube I read a lot of the parenting blogs from there.
Lilypod and Sweetpea
My Pretty mummy
2.2 children and a dog
The girl behind the camera
There’s actually too many to mention and now I’m blogging I’m reading lots of different new ones everyday.
6. What’s your favourite social media platform(s)… and what’s your username?
I really like Instagram, I haven’t been on it that long, so don’t have a big following username is Kleigh222 you,me andthe 6 C’s Twitter is still really lost on me, I do post on there a couple of times a day, but it moves so fast and I can’t keep up, but I think it’s a case of the more I engage on there, the more I’ll be able to keep up.
7. Share a fact about you no-one would guess.
I haven’t worked for 13 years, since moving to Liverpool from London to bring up the children, but before this I was on the opening team for the Jubilee line extension, and officially opened Canary Wharf tube station in 1999, It was a really nice thing to be a part of.
8. What’s your favourite bit of tech?
Without a doubt my iphone 6+, I was unsure about the size when I first got it, but I really love it now and can’t imagine having the smaller version again, it just makes doing everything a bit easier.
9. If you won the lottery, how would you spend your winnings?
We are a family of 7 in a 3 bedroom house and even though I love our house and don’t want to move I’d love to be able to get a proper loft conversion done with a proper new staircase and entrance.
10. If you could host a talk show, who would be your first guest?
Have to be Roger Taylor from Queen, bit random I know, but I’ve loved the group since I was about 10, and I would love to ask him a few questions about the bands early days.
11. Share a funny (or favourite) memory from your life.
My funny memory even though it wasn’t fun for the people involved, was when I was working on the underground, and was on the tube on the way to work with my uniform on, as I reached in my bag my handheld rape alarm came flying out and so did the pin that you pull to set it off, the most ear splitting sound you can ever imagine came from it as it rolled down the train carriage. Everything went in slow motion as I ran down the train to get it, but as you can imagine, people had no idea what it was and were climbing on the seats, It wasn’t that long after 9/11 and people were genuinely scared. As soon as I got it I fumbled to put the pin in and apologized to everyone, then just got off at the next stop. actually that’s not even funny, but when ever I tell people they laugh.
12. What is your favourite book (or film if you’re not a big reader) and why?
I love reading, but nothing too high brow, give me a Dan Brown book or a Harry Potter any day.
13. What picture is on your phone/tablet lock screen?
This is James and our 4 eldest last Christmas outside St.Georges Hall, Liverpool
14. If you had an hour of time all to yourself, how would you spend it?
Oh gosh I like doing so many different things obviously blogging and watching YouTube, but I love cross stitch, colouring books, reading, scrapbooking and crafting in general. But if it was just an hour I’d grab a hot drink and snuggle up with the latest book I’m reading.
15. What’s the best bit of advice you’ve ever been given?
It’s better to try and fail than not try at all, and
life’s to short to have regrets, just learn from tthem and move on.
