A few months back I posted that I’d done an an 8 week meal plan. It has worked so well for us as a family that I’ve doubled it to a mega 16 weeks.
A few of our favourite meals have been repeated in it, and I’ve also wrote out lots of ideas for breakfast and lunch for myself. I find myself needing lots of inspiration for these two meals otherwise I end up eating the same old thing every single day.
The meals on the meal plan don’t follow any particular diet or leave out any particular food groups. Some meals are healthier than others, I just wanted to add lots of different variety to all 3 meals.
In my happy planner home pages, there are 16 sheets for meal planning, and this is where I wrote it all, I will leave the sheets below. The great thing about the sheets was that on the opposite side to each weekly meal plan, there was a shopping list that was categorized into all different food sections. This meant I could look at the meal plan and then write my shopping list next to it. I will never need to write a shopping list again! Genius haha.
It took around a week to and I’m really pleased with it. On some of the days I have just put ‘Instant Pot’ as I would like to search out some new Instant Pot recipes. As I said with the last meal plan, nothing is set in stone and we don’t have to have any meal on a set day we can change-up what meal we have on any given day. The breakfast and lunches are there just to give me some ideas and inspiration if I don’t fancy it I won’t have it.
Well let’s see how I get on, at leat the kids and James have stopped asking me ‘what’s for dinner?’ as I now write up the weeks meals on a chalk board and they can refer to that. On the whole it’s completely changed the way we w=eat and the way I shop. I only buy what we need and so I’ve been able to see some real savings. We very rarely eat out or have a takeaway now, and of course that can only be a good thing. Although the very last meal on the very last page, is the kids favourite take out pizza ‘Soprano’s’. I think if we make it to the end of a 16 week meal plan, we can justify that haha.
See you soon
